Flow holds a few different ideas and meanings for me. One of the ways I describe flow, is when you feel connected to your confidence, curiosity, calm and clarity, creativity, as well as connected to others, yourself and the world around you. The place where you feel most authentic and at ease.
Flow is also the place where you feel grounded even when “life is lifing” all around you because you have the capacity to go along for the ride. Flow psychotherapy describes the place where you can take the risk of feeling and experiencing all that it means to be human. It is a space of non-judgement and understanding. A place where you can bring your whole self and feeling seen and nurtured with compassion and empathy. Flow psychotherapy is the place where you can feel anchored when the worlds challenges begin to leave you feeling untethered.
Flow also describes my way of approaching therapy. It is about being in the moment, being present to what is coming up and having the ability to adapt. We call this being attuned in therapeutic language and this may mean slowing down and giving you time and space to feel. It can also mean inquiring deeper when something feels off. This may also mean flowing from one modalities to another in order to meet you where you are.
